I'm taking a break for a bit but this lived up to every hope I had so far! I also overhyped this to hell and back so thats saying something. Fourth floor foe just went down thanks to tri shield but I'm still concerned about how many points to put into race skills.

I really love that city theme and wish the EO5 theme was that instead of guild hall.

Bout to start playing in an hour and I narrowed my parties down to either

Dragoon / Masurao
Warlock / Shaman /Rover

Or

Fencer / Harbinger
Warlock / Necro / Botanist

Second party I may swap Warlock with a Masurao. Might make two save files, complete the first floor and decide which party from there/make tweaks.

Well first boss down and it was neat in a lot of ways but not a big shock. Beat it first try although it was close, tri ace really pulled through even though I didn't understand what the gimmick was till the very end.

I overpowered it more that any kind of skill which is kind of disapointing. Didn't expect immunity to all binds and ailments though pugilist one two punch just gets a better hit rate from that anyway.

Didn't feel like a test like how Fenrir made you think about foes with flash/sonic bombs. Or Chimera making you cut off 40% of its health to stand a chance. Narmer made you check the map though that wasn't much of a surprise.

This was more of a raw endurance test and unlike some other EOs you don't have a lot of amrita to throw around. Union skills help that though and the owl bear staff means a warlock gets an op attack for 4tp all day long. Still a pretty good first boss overall like it more than 2 or 4's.

Finished the initial quest & mapped out the 1st floor. Not too sure if I'm happy with my team right now so I might try out some new setups.

I skipped EOU2 and didn't finish EOU1 for various reasons, so I'm not burnt out on this series thankfully. I just got it, fucking mailman put it way elsewhere so I had to literally go to a house with the same house number and grab it from there. Was a 40 min walk, no kidding

Got it today. Well, technically, I ordered it from Amazon yesterday with 1 day deliver. It was free, I assume because I used my wife's Prime.

Anyway, just on the first Stratum and things are going well. I've got a party of Fencer-Dragoon-Herbalist-Warlock-Rover.

All seem useful so far. Fencer is my main attacker, Dragoon is my new Fortress/Tank/Yelling Wall, Warlock is my elemental nuker (focusing on Ice at the moment), Herbalist is 100% healer, and my Rover ... just sort of does nothing. I have no idea what summons to focus on.

Also, does anyone invest much in foraging skills? They seem sort of useless (except fishing) since you can technically collect stuff without them. Should I just wait and make a foraging focused party later?

I put one point in gathering to make quests for rare resources easier. Nice that it covers all three types and Earthlian has Dragoon and Pugilist which are both amazing.

Also second names are so much better than subclasses. Its so much more for every class to do!

I'll get it eventually. Right now, I'll probably be burnt out on dungeon crawlers since I'm playing through Persona Q. The FoE mechanics in that game are amusing, at least.
