Oh shoot! I accidentally voted NO. But it's actually a YES.

His performance was creepier. The new one wasn't scary. He was more like a weirdo stalker/serial killer person.

I love the library scene and when he was trolling the adult versions.

Hey mister! You got Prince Albert in a can?

You better let him out!

But yeah, I much preferred Tim Curry's Pennywise. S/he was just approachable, I would believe s/he could lure kids just as easily as s/he would kill them. The new Pennywise was just plain old creepy, no kid would go near that. That being said, I think that was more of a production choice than an acting one. I do also think the new Pennywise is good in his/her own right.

Ya both "Its" were great. Like the guy said above, old IT was approachable and funny, remake IT was more powerful but clearly struggling with its feral nature. Perhaps in the part 2 remake, 27 years will be enough time for him to learn a different approach.

Tim Curry is the main event in the old It miniseries. The producers knew they had only one great performer and they milked him for all he was worth. He does turn in an incredible performance and his portrayal of the character is more alien-like, which I like better. If you ignore the goofy stuff he did, there was more genuine horror in his performance too - like there was more going on under the surface.

The new dude plays him as sort of a hungry stupid monster. He plays it too broadly and in an obvious way. Like within the first second of seeing him, you know he's a killer. With the dark shadows and the creepy makeup and smile. Like Georgie is fucking braindead if he thought that was not the scariest fucking thing he ever saw.
