I've been applying left and right since May. I got a good gig a few weeks ago at a bank, but there was a "change in direction" (still very iffy on that tbh) so I lost that job after a few weeks wth no notice because I was still in the probationary period.

I don't know if I can handle another 4 months without a job again.

I've signed up for 5 so far, and none of them are offering anything but minimum wage factory jobs and always seem to be low on any clerical work that pays well.

I wouldn't scoff at factory work necessarily

Buddy of mine got a job at a plastics injection mold plant as a grunt worker and now makes crazy money after a few years of working his way up the ladder and getting a couple of easy certificates

But these jobs would literally pay me $8 an hour and I'm not looking to stay in Florida longer than I need to.

All I want is a $13+ an hour job so I can just pay off my loans and move on with me life. I've been miserable ever since I moved down here

Start looking in different cities or states, then.

That's the problem, because those jobs are from 7-4, Monday-Friday. At the last job offer I got, the woman who interviewed me refused to budge on a day for an interview, so I had to cancel a certification class I was taking to meet with her. I wound up getting that job, but she was the same one who bailed on me just a few weeks in.

What if I get another prospective job offer from a company that's as stubborn as the last? And what if the place I'm working at won't give me a few hours to leave, clean up, and do my interview. I can't just get a job, and then bail on them for every interview that suddenly pops up.

I don't know if I even have the cash to stay on my own anymore. I did when I moved, but I literally only have $1000 left, and that was only because of my pay from my last job. There's no way it'd be smart to take the risk to move somewhere else and then hope I get a job there.

I'm sorry. Your situation isn't ideal but you may have to take on underemployment until you can save up more funds.

Yeah, it bums me out. And to think my first shot at a job had the boss suddenly decide that the company needed to change, when she was directly telling me stuff to do the day before. That's the part that keeps me heated

The problem was that I was told that those factory jobs have a very low tolerance for people starting out and then quitting once a better job offer comes along. And I apparently won't be able to take a day off without 2 weeks notice until I'm further in. So what if I get a job there and then, a week later, another, better, place calls me and says that they want to meet me tomorrow, no exceptions? Am I supposed to quit the factory job because they won't give me off on such short notice?

Yeah I get planning for what ifs but you need an immediate income stream. Take the job and you will figure out the rest when/if it happens.

Dang that sucks that your bank job fell through. I know it's not ideal but maybe you can call in sick or something if you have an interview, that way you don't endanger your temporary job as long as it's not too often
