is the hero not wearing their costume. the netflix shows are very guilty of this. Only one member of the Defenders team even has a costume. I get so sick of seeing Iron Fist just wearing normal clothes. Why are shows afraid to use the costumes? super heroes are supposed to wear costumes. it's stupid to have them in normal clothes.

Because comic book heroes are inherently silly and you have to go to great lengths to get any measure of reality or grit into the tone.

why does there need to be measure of reality or grit? ever since the stupid Nolan movies, people think all comic book movies have to have grit in them.

Because campy and silly doesn't tend to work. I mean just look at comic book movies historically and see which ones were box off hits and critical successes. Most of them go for the darker reimaging version.

Grit is a safer bet and opens up entire new demographics that wouldn't watch it otherwise.

the DC movies are more gritty than the Marvel ones, and the Marvel ones are the ones winning.

I'd say the problems with the DC movies are more inherently bad writing and terrible acting than issues with tone. You could argue that DC tries too hard to be gritty.

Overall though, the entire shift of comic book movies has been to try and make them seem more adult appropriate, which seems to be working overall.

Whatever way you want to skin the cat it has to work with the overall tone. And it's hard to think of a good reason why someone would wear some yellow spandex and an eyemask into battle.

Iron Fist is the only one that seems to be allergic to having a costume. Most superhero movies/shows these days do use costumes.

Why IF still isn't using his costume is anyone's guess.

Probably because that scrawny little stoner would look fucking absurd in this:

then get a different actor. they should have looked for someone that looked like Iron Fist. not the other way around.

Personally I think physical appearance is one of the least important attributes in getting the soul of the character across (most of the time) and can be augmented easily enough, but Danny Rand's actor was truly appalling in every way. I want to know who's dick he was sucking to land that part.

Actors need their faces visible to be marketable. Sadly this means the masks are hard to work into the story and thus most of the time they make excuses to not wear them or take them off. See how in avengers pretty much no one has a secret identity. Cap's costume doesn't even have a mask unless it's during a mission. Tony has that inside the costume angle and he steps out of the armor way too much.

Ironically the one wearing the costume was the best character of the 4.

Though I do like Jessica ans Luke as characters too.

The thing that I hate the most is that if the bad guy gets outta sight, that's it, there's no catching them.

Especially egregious in Flash and Supergirl.

the Venom actor kept taking his mask off to show his stupid face, and people hated him and his movie.

the Deadpool actor kept his mask on, and people love him and the movie. and he's getting a sequel

Imagine if Electro wore that costume in Amazing Spider-man 2.

If Deadpool had taken his mask off, less people would have liked the movie. it was so good because it was accurate to the comics. comic fans came out in hordes to support the film, to thank it for being respectful of the source material

Meh, I don't give a shit. Jessica Jones and Luke Cage don't even really have a costume and IF will get a costume in season 2.

Isn't that the point of the Marvel Netflix shows?

They aren't that far into being "superheroes". They're basically in the infantile point of their heroisms (with the exception of DareDevil)
