I can only imagine how many lives would have been saved if USA had military grade drones patrolling their city skies. And when there are known crowded venues like concerts, just bring in the drones. The best way now to combat mass shootings is technology. We need an Elon Musk-type for security innovations.

I don't believe that at all. We know Americans are gonna keep their guns and mass shootings will keep on happening. But technology is advancing. If there is a will and a need for it it will happen. With Machine Learning and Deep Learning being more commonplace I believe we will see its uses in security soon enough. There are companies that are designing drones to recognize guns, and people who do not belong in certain areas. Police already have drones, it's only natural for said drones to advance as time goes on.

The problem isn't technology so much as turning the country into a smouldering post-riot crater.
