Thea von Harbou, the wife of Fritz Lang, was actually was a huge supporter of the Nazi regime and she helped write the film. The two of them eventually divorced over Lang's issue with his wife being like, a freakin' Nazi. :u

So I think there might be shades of that in the film as well? It's a very interesting film regardless.

I've read that some restored versions omit the fight at the end and that's downright criminal.
