I don't think so. my family's progressive and generally good about that kind of stuff. I've never had a serious relationship with someone who was black though. neither, as far as I know, have either of my sisters

lol tbh it was pretty funny when my cousin told her family that she was dating a black guy

my aunty surprisingly took it badly. saying stuff like how everyone is going to think she is desperate and she is too pretty to date a black guy. that she should think of their future children. they won't fit in, people would laugh at them etc. it was pretty bad from what my mom told me hahaha. she was nice to him though when she brought him over.

also with my last gf I kept pretending that she was black before anyone met her and you could tell there was like a feeling of relief in the room when I introduced her to everyone and that she wasnt black like they were all expecting. lmao

Yes. My father is a giant racist, and my mother, to quote her, "doesn't trust the blacks". Not an issue for me though, as I don't speak to them anymore.

So, get this. My wife, her dad is a preacher. Her brother is gay, and he's 24. His boyfriend of now 7 years is a black 41 year old guy. He's a really sweet guy and a good hearted person, but unfortunately with religious conflicts apparently, her dad (who is a 5th generation Baptist preacher) hasn't written him off, but pretty much tries to exclude him from church events and meetings, but doesn't necessarily "hate" him.

I feel like his somewhat acceptance is commendable, most religious icons would damn him entirely and cut him out of the family, but he has not. He has asked him to not take part in church and religious events with his partner, but doesn't cut him down or belittle him for being with another male, that is black and much older than him. Especially so that his son is gay.

It give me a speck of hope, and I suppose I regretfully understand him not wanting the church community to know he has a gay son that is with a man twice his age and of a different race because the judgemental community would condemn him as a preacher and he would lose a ton of respect and potentially what he has worked toward his entire life.

That in itself I feel like is enough reason to write off organized religion entirely, but I haven't devoted my life to a god either. It seems like a lot of the bible teaches to love all, and doesn't really touch on sexual orientation. Regardless, i'd rather support her brother, who is a pretty cool guy, and his partner that everyone in the family loves, than the religion that "teaches" to push away this kind of behavior and these kinds of people.

I say that because I think it's safe to assume that the girl any CEman would date wouldn't be from the hood.

It's like if someone asked me if I liked white girls, I wouldn't need to differentiate if they mean a redneck or not because it's obvious I wouldn't.

Nope, my family would not care, though if they did I wouldn't care since I do as I wish, my choices are my own to make with or without family approval.

One side of my family would be very uncomfortable with anyone that had a problem with someone based on their race. The other side is even worse, and you'd be lucky to get out of the room without a bloody nose.

No. My cousin married a Guyanese guy and is having their third kid now. I'm married to a dark skinned southern Asian and have a mixed child. No one cares, or at least they aren't open with their prejudice.

No among my 'actual' family. My mom wouldn't care, my aunt and cousins wouldn't care. I actually had two serious relationships with First Nations/Aboriginal girls and it raised zero eyebrows.

The family I don't consider family are horrible people, so they'd probably be racist assholes about it.

I should also say that my family would care a lot more about social class than race, e.g. does the person have a college education and a white collar background, or is the person working at a minimum wage type job?

It would be worse for me to bring home a high school dropout than someone of any particular ethnic background.
