i told him i have severe back pain for the last 5 years. he asks some basic questions about what i do and basically told me to lose weight and to exercise. great.

i told im the pain is so bad that i can't relax. when im not doing anything all i can do is think about that pain.

and he fucking told me to just stay occupied all the time.

fucking where can i get a medical doctorate cuz apparently they're just handing them out.

What type of pain is it? As the above poster said, you'll need imaging done if you can afford it.

I had to tell my doctors to schedule me an MRI after complaining for 2 years about back pain. Found arthritis and a bulging disc. Then I lost my "Healthcare" and just live with the pain.

This is exactly why the patient shouldn't be demanding imaging and the decision should be left up to the doctor. You spent a bunch of money on an MRI and for all intents and purposes it did't change your management. Your doctor probably told you to take motrin or advil or some kind of NSAID, and perhaps physical therapy that you can probably search on youtube and do. He would've told you the same thing even without getting the MRI.

It's important for accurate information to be on your medical record. Especially if the condition could have been remedied earlier through proper treatment. I was doing physical therapy and moved to pain management afterwards. Never got to continue pain management.

Most doctors are useless imo. I had to talk to several to get a diagnosis recently. They had no idea what my symptoms meant and just shrugged it off while I lived in pain.

I had to search my symptoms, find what I might be suffering from and then find a doctor who specialized in it before I actually got treatment. It took 6 months.

You most likely didn't need an MRI. You can get an accurate diagnosis from physical exam and history. Unless you had some alarm symptoms or if ur going for some kind of surgery or injections, it made absolutely no difference in your management and it was a waste of money.

What treatment did you get? What symptoms did you have?

I have eye pain and extreme light sensitivity, with migraines that originate in the back of my head/neck. I also have neck and shoulder pain. I've always had migraines but these last few months the pain has been different. It feels like the migraine pain is in my neck. I talked to my neurologist about it and he shrugged. I talked to my family doctor and same thing.

I looked up the symptoms and it was a fit for occipital neuralgia. I talked to my neurologist about it who said he never heard of it. So I looked up a specialist. He said I had every symptom and I received lidocaine injections in the back of my head. It gave me relief which confirmed the diagnosis.

Now I'm getting facet nerve blocks in a couple of weeks for hopefully better long term results.
