I worked at a bus station for a year. I sold tickets, loaded and unloaded buses, and pretty much chilled out and watched movies on the portable DVD player in the terminal during slow times.

I worked at UPS as a truckloader when I was a senior in HS. Liked it because I got paid weekly. Fucking horrible underpaidslaves was the nickname. Didn't last 3 months

I was at Osco. I was mostly at a cash register, but sometimes did other things, like stocking, or facing. I was mostly a cashier. That was over 10 years ago. That Osco shut down. Now I'm across the street from that Osco at Walgreens. I'm mostly a cashier there.

US Army. I didn't have a job in high school and 2 days after graduation, I joined the military. 12-15 hour work days for 6-7 days a week was a rude awakening to the working bracket of the world.

Floor help working on a printing press. It was hot, smelly, tiring, crappy work but I was making almost double minimum wage (which my friends were making) and getting 10-20 hours of overtime a week.

I hated my first summer, but I saved up everything I made and bought a car when I was 16. Ended up doing two more summers and some weekends in between. It was the reason I went to university because I realised that trades really weren't my thing.

Taught English to kids, ranging from a bunch of bratty 5-year-olds to fifth-graders. Substitute teacher.

I just realized that this is almost exactly 10 years ago, meaning that said bratty kids would now be middle-schoolers and the fifth-graders would be in college or in the army for military service. Holy ****.

I worked as a Page in a library. I restocked the shelves with books that got returned. I often got caught reading when I was supposed to be working but they never fired me. but it might have been cause it was just a summer job and they cut me slack. or the person that caught me was nice. But I actually did it way more often than they caught me. I managed to read an entire book that summer that I kept taking off the shelf and peeking at when I was alone

my high school culinary school recruited me and my best friend to do a little catering
said all we had to do was drive the food he had already made, unpack it, and leave. get a $100 each for like 2 hours work

well once we got to the event it turned out it was a wedding and they expected us to heat everything up and serve it
still turned out ok and we made like $25/hr tax free at the end of the day, plus a few tips here and there, but it was longer and more annoying than what we expected

College book store for work study. The job was chill except for the first and last week of every quarter. The amount of hours asides from those two weeks were horrible due to budgets. My department had a budget of 40 hours a week divided among 12 people while 160 hours during the first/last weeks.

I was making side money by abusing my employee discount and strange clearance though. I bought used books during down periods and sold them to students/bookstore at market rate when quarters began. Also got a bunch of electronics that I sold on amazon.

Worked at a warehouse collecting and packaging school stationary supplies. It was minimum wage of course, incredibly mundane with ridiculous hours, and would have been intolerable if not for the fact we were all university students so had things like music and banter to keep us going.
