Zikten, the problem is that he thinks the abusive relationship can be "positive" or a "coming of age" experience. People often blanket the term pedophilia to refer to people under the age of 18.

This can get wonky with varying state consent laws in the 16-17 range, but that's not even pertinent to the discussion. You'd have to explain why one year's difference (13 to 12) makes his statement any better.

Basically: No, Milo is not a pedophile. However, he's made irresponsible and incredibly abhorrent statements in relation to the subject that might minimize traumatic experiences of people who were sexually molested at a young age, especially by somebody they trusted.

I don't get why you're having a semantics debate over the word "pedophile." It doesn't technically refer to people aged 13-17 but nonetheless people age 13-15 cannot consent anywhere in the U.S. and there are generally limitations to consent for 16-17 year olds (afaik)

In other words, his statement isn't any better. There's no "minimizing" of pedophilia here: This wasn't an 18 year old getting charged for having sex with a 17 year old, this is in reference to an aged catholic priest sexually abusing a 13 year old.

Zikten, you're correct in that it isn't technically pedophilia but the age range we're discussing is still a vulnerable one and one that doesn't have the legal ability to consent. Barely pubescent children isn't very much better than pre-pubescent.

For anyone who had ears he was talking about his own experience, his own life and refusing to blanket condemn his own experiences. (Hint: It's called taking ownership, something that happens often to these victims. It becomes something THEY did, as opposed to something that was done to them.) You just dislike it because he spoke about it the way he speaks about everything.

Secondly, with all the last minute bullshit this university has been pulling R.E. this event, it should lose it's name, no university should be called Berkeley and be this opposed to free speech. It's shameful to watch it happen.

We're not talking about people being molested. We're talking about how Milo said that 13yrs are ok for sex. If he wants to "promote himself being molested", then thats on him. But it gets sick when he wants to drag kids into his sick mind, and people are making excuses for it.

It goes to show SJW's that the best way to take someone down is by letting them talk, not silencing them.
