I remember trying to watch it a few times but always got bored around the time when Hurley is in the mental hospital (how far is that into the show?)

It starts to pick up pretty well around mid season 3 but then jumps around a bit as far as quality is concerned. Personally I think it's worth watching even if I wasn't a fan with the direction things took post season 4, it wasn't bad just unexpected.

I don't understand your posts. The beginning was good and the part I got to I didn't like as much. Doesn't mean the seasons after it are bad necessarily. I was asking if they were better.

many shows have really bad seasons and really good seasons. Not gonna waste my time going through a really bad season if there isn't a really good one after it. If there is then I'll sit through it.

There's a decline in quality in the last few seasons but there are still some great moments. I'd say keep watching.
