why am i a sorcerer with no spells?

More than the other classes have.

Starting class only affects your starting stats and starting equipment. Any starting class can become any playstyle. Iirc sorcerer gives you higher intelligence and attunement at the start which will give you a head start on getting better spells early.

yea you do have a spell. Soul Arrow. it should be there and available as soon as you pick up the catalyst in the starting area. I wonder if maybe TC hasn't gotten that far yet. keep going. you will find an item that you equip that lets you cast Soul Arrow

eventually you will meet an npc that lets you buy more. until then that's what you get. but you refill those shots everytime you rest at the bonfire.

he is guarding a ring that can be useful. you can also run past him and grab it then die though. if you kill him he has a small chance of dropping a nice sword. he doesn't respawn though. so if you manage to kill him and you don't get the sword, then there is nothing you can do.

Sorcery is definitely the strongest magic in DS1, but the Pyromancer class is better for beginners. You can bulk up your character with Endurance, Vitality, and Strength/Dexterity more if if you're a Pyromancer, since you don't have to dump points into Intelligence or Faith to raise the spell damage.

It can become PvP at pretty much any time.

Also, the messages, summoning signs, and player ghosts are online features.

I thought people hated always online single player games

It's not an always online game.


Also yeah, being unable to pause in Dark Souls is a good thing.

You can literally quit out of the game at any time, outside of invasions and bosses, and it'll bring you to the exact same point when you come back in. Even if you quit during a boss you'll start right outside the fog gate, though the boss will be at full health again.

Yeah a pause feature would be a negative for Dark Souls. Get used to it or stop playing.

They don't patrol, though.

And unless you're playing unpatched, their aggro range is a fraction of what it was at launch. >_>

I don't actually remember if they let you do it in the first one, but in III you can open your inventory while still playing. It's hard to multitask and fight baddies with a menu panel on screen obviously, but it also kinda has a real-time vibe going on, because if you were actually fighting these dudes and needed a specific item you'd have to juggle fighting and looking around your bag

Not having a pause button is a good feature. If you're invaded or have summons, then sure. But if you're playing by yourself, I see no reason why you shouldn't be allowed to pause.

But Souls fanboys will defend it to the death.

The pause thing is not about difficulty and it's not poor design just because you don't like it. Dark Souls has some poor design, believe you me.

if you wanna get more estuses for each bonfire, you need two humanities - one to unhollow and one to kindle the bonfire.

sorry if you already knew, but some people ignore it and wonder why they only have five estus throughout the game.

there's a circle to the top left that shows 00.

each time you use humanity or gain it, that circle goes up by one.

if you have two humanities, at the bonfire, first choose the unhollow option, and after that, the kindle one.

but once you're unhollow, that's when you can be invaded or summon help

isnt there an equivilent of the cling ring from Demon's in Dark Souls? so you can stay unhollowed always, but lose minimal health? I forget tbh

Why is no pause such a controversy? Just back track like 5 steps where you just cleared a room. No problem. Though I suppose if you're unhollowed, you can get invaded, but that's kind of the point.
