It's sad enough that people pretend to enjoy anything less than medium for a steak, but when I see someone ask for a burger like that I want to groan.

Practically raw meat doesn't taste good. Humans evolved to enjoy cooked food. It's not wrong to enjoy your food cooked because a hipster told you otherwise.

Protip: I've worked front and back of house for years in chain restaurants and respected kitchens. You're not Guy Fieri getting a filet mignon, you're some dude who gets his opinions from the internet, and we're all laughing about it

You know what I don't get? Why people get so upset if someone decides to dip their steak into A1. "But but but you're ruining the flavor!"

Really - doesn't this mean we should be eating everything plain? I mean, otherwise you're tarnishing the flavor of the food you just cooked. If you dip your scrambled eggs into ketchup what are you tasting exactly? Really, you're getting an overwhelming taste of ketchup.

What about sour cream over a baked potato? Aren't you covering up the flavor of the potato?
Or salsa? Covering up the taste of the chip.

Now, like I said, I eat my steaks plain, but for those that dip them into something...it doesn't bother me.

And to me, the taste of a potato is soo good. Like, when I make mashed potatoes I make them plain. I don't dress them with bacon bits or garlic or any of that crap.

I mean, I like garlic mashed potatoes, but to me, there's nothing like the taste of FRESH home-made mashed potatoes.

I mean, obviously I use butter and milk and use salt or pepper, but other than that, I love the flavor of a potato.

rare steak is a meme tbh. there's way more flavor if you cook it a bit more. any sort of medium is good for me. well done is overcooked and rare is undercooked imo. all of them are edible but the flavor peaks somewhere in the middle
