I am using Rational wiki so take it with a grain of salt.

The term Intelligent design came inter circulation in the eighties as a way to make creation science doubt more scientific and less religion based. Yet it is the early 2000s where it really started gaining ground. That is when Kitzmiller v. Dover Area School District happened a case that shown just how much of a lie that was.

I think it was 2007, at least, that's when I think I first heard about people complaining about it, but I'm not sure. Teaching it as fine, in theory, but teaching as science is horseshit.

Welcome to the American "education" system, though, I guess.
