It's a crime woman use to ruin a mans life usually out of spite , so yes this is every bit as bad and life destroying as rape.

So people who say it should carry the same amount of time as the crime they falsely accused... Would you say the same for any crime?

Kidnapping?

If not, why is rape different? I think it should be treated the same as falsely accusing someone of any felony. A year and a half in prison sounds appropriate to me.

You can't equate the act of lying about an act to doing a horrible act.

You actually can when you think about it. Given that the punishment for a crime is proportionate to the severity of the crime, causing someone to be wrongly convicted of said crime is therefore proportionate to committing said crime.

What really should happen is the courts should keep the names of the accuser and accused private so there's less potential life ruining going on. Ban the media from using names.
