Jack in the Box by my house a few years ago tried doing away with cashiers. Literally two people working the back with a computer up front. Didn't last too long. Old people don't want to interact with a computer unless it's a fucking slot machine.

I just love how everyone always says that if we raise the minimum wage to $15 then all the fast food jobs are going to be automated. They act like the industry isn't trying to make that happen now while the minimum wage is $7.50. Large scale companies don't give a shit about their employees, it's all about the $$ at the end of the day.

People at self-checkouts get confused by machines giving them step by step instructions on what to do. They will bitch about the machine not working when it is literally telling them out loud and in text what to do in order to continue. Quite frankly, the average customer is twice as stupid as they think the average worker is.
