It hasn't been bad so far, I actually think it is better than the first which gives me a little hope for the show.

It's alright. The humor hasn't been great (hell, this episode hasn't been focusing on humor anyway), but as a Star Trek clone, it's pretty legit.

I am loving the orchestral score for it. But everything else is falling a little flat for me. The acting is alright, but the writing isn't great, and the lighting is absolutely horrible. Everything is way too bright. So I'm feeling kinda mixed about the whole thing.

They also are spending way more on special effects than I was expecting.

So is it a typical Seth McFarlane show or more like a Star Trek / Firefly but with more humor?

It's sort of blander than Firefly, actually. It definitely isn't your typical Macfarlane fare, though.

There's actually less humor than I was expecting for a Macfarlane show.

My wife and I are enjoying it so far. Just watched episode 2 earlier (via Hulu), and we are really digging it. Both of us are Trek fans and this hits that spot.

I know a lot of people are down on it, but I think that's because of how it was promoted. It's not a comedy ala Family Guy or American Dad. It's got some comedic elements to keep it light, but it's more of a traditional sci fi which is great.

It's nice to finally have a few shows to watch as a sci fi fan, its been a long time since we've had anything really. Hopefully this and Star Trek Discovery last a few seasons at minimum.
