I don't have a doctor bc I don't have insurance

Basically my temple area looks wider than normal and there are a couple strands there, which are easy to pull out

Weird because hair loss does not run on either side of my family

Also, you're not allowed in this topic if you think it only runs on the mother's side lol

Yep it usually starts in the temples you are definitely going bald, if no one else in your family is bald though you may just get a receding hairline at the most

My hair receded at the temples a bit at 17, more than a decade later I have pretty much the exact same hairline, as does my (late 50s) father.

I'm 25

And yeah, that definitely could be the case

Is there a way to fight it?

there are two options. You can either ask your doctor to prescribe you Finasteride which is like the accutane equivalent to blocking acne. It decreases the conversation of testosterone into DHT which is the direct cause of hair loss. However, there is a low chance of side effects such developing feminine traits like breasts, severe mood swings, and decreased male fertility.

The other option, which is safer, is Regaine. You apply a small amount of liquid to your bald spot which will supposedly dilate blood vessels to make your hair roots more fertile. Although, the trade off of it being safe is that it's less effective. Most people just see a decrease in hair lost
