I must be a technology "old man". I can't imagine a good use case for the S-pen. My handwriting is shit so I'm not going to take notes. I can type faster than I can write. Are you in a profession where hand written markup on a presentation or whatever is a thing?

Sell me on it.

I love the Apple Pencil on my iPad Pro.

Smart styluses that can have near-1:1 inking are actually pretty handy.

I wish the iPhone X supported the Pencil (but of course it doesn't).

how do you guys deal with having giant phones? i saw someone with a note 8 last weekend (or at least it looked like it) and the thing was fucking massive. there's no way that will ever fit in a pocket

It's not the handwriting, it's the ability to annotate PDFs, edit photos, use multi window more effectively and crop screenshots quickly. It's awesome.

Yeah. If the Note 7 didn't have the issues it had, I would just be keeping the Note 7 and waiting until the Note 9 to even consider upgrading.

I'm a network engineer, so there are a lot of situations I come across where I'm trying to explain a network design to someone. Regardless of whether the other party understands networking or not, it's always easier to draw the design out while you're explaining it. Being able to pull out my phone and use the stylus to jot down notes and/or draw diagrams is incredibly handy.

I really don't understand how this "it won't fit in a pocket" thing continues to exist.

This is a Nexus 7 tablet fitting in someone's pocket. The Note 8 and every other phablet phone has a much smaller profile and fits in pockets just fine.

This is a Nexus 7 tablet fitting in someone's pocket. The Note 8 and every other phablet phone has a much smaller profile and fits in pockets just fine.

maybe if you wear jnco jeans or something

im wearing levi 511s now and my iphone 7 fits in my pocket but it takes up the majority of it, with maybe like a quarter inch of space left.

granted the phone is in a case but i cant imagine fitting a note 8 in there, esp if i had a case on the note as well

No. I've worn multiple styles of Levi's jeans and other brands and have never had a problem with a Note phone fitting in my pocket, even with a case on it. Whether it's a slim style case like a flip cover or S-view, a big ass otterbox defender, or whatever. It still fits in my pocket just fine.

Who has both this and the S8/S8+? How much difference is there?

Every person I know that had the Note 7 offer is getting it. Otherwise, I would have just piggybacked off someone. It's a pretty insane deal even with the issues Samsung has with trade ins.

I was gonna grab the Note 7, but held off after reports of the issues. And before you knew it, they were fully recalled.
