My sister did this last week. She got a big forearm tattoo for our grandmother who died a year ago (and whose birthday was last saturday).

The thing is, our grandmother did not like tattoos and absolutely would have been against my sis getting one. And it's not like my sister is a tattoo person, this only her second one and she's almost 40 years old.

I just don't get it.

That's just how she wanted to remember her family dude. If it's the best way she can think of for herself and it makes her happy, let her have it.

I have a messed up tat from years ago(dumb shit) on my upper right arm.

I want to have a buddy go over it to change it to something else to clean it up, but my wife doesn't want me to do that so every time I take my shirt off it looks like shit and someone always asks, "What's that suppose to be?"

Oh well.

Did you mention this contradiction to her

I did not, because she already has the tattoo and it would only cause an argument.

It just seems weird to memorialize someone with a thing they didn't like.
