I havent seen the movie yet. but based on the previews i have seen, it looks more in theme with the book than the old mini series. I think most of the people complaining never read the book and just care about the mini series and the old Pennywise actor. and they can't accept change

What? The mini series is way more faithful to the book.

Idk if that's complaing TBH.

It's natural to compare actors from the same role. Some people might be angry but like mentioned they probably don't care about the story just the miniseries itself.

I haven't seen it yet cause I'm waiting for this weekend where it's hopefully not as packed but I'll probably compare them too while appreciating the differences in the two.

Curry killed PW. He didn't capture the essence of IT but he 100% captures the essence of pennywise the clown.

I'm not gonna complain about a creepier clown if that's what I get though.

That's true but some of the most unsettling moments (the very few parts that stood the test of time from that movie) are him chewing the scene.

I'm hyped as all hell though for the new one but I heard the same thing someone said in this topic that it was way less faithful. Like silver isn't in it aside from being just a basic bike with a little cameo of the name being on it. But I also heard there's a ton of Easter eggs too. Any comments yourself? I'm sorta trying to avoid spoilers but I also read the book so who cares lol.

i havent seen the new IT yet

but the original mini series had issues
the parts with the kids was great. the child actors were all fantastic and the most memorable parts of the movie are with the kids

but the second half with the adults is pure shit.
the adult actors are all worse than the child actors and the story just becomes kind of boring

the book had the same issue TBH

Curry's Pennywise dips into Adam West Batman territory on more than one occasion. Maybe it was good for its time...? Not trying to be edgy, but I really don't care for the miniseries' version of Pennywise.

The new movie makes lots of winks and nods to the book and the mini-series without overstating them, which is a better way to include content for the raging fans without confusing the less-informed viewers

I had no issues with the new actors. Hell, they did great.

The movie just sucked. The flow of the story relies on you having either read the book or watched the previous mini-series to understand what's happening, and critical plot points felt so tacked on.

Also a lot of the scares and plot twists...waited so long...they became so predictable.

The flow of the movie sucks. The actors did fine.

Mini series had better pacing - very obviously since they had the luxury of having more time. The build up of the story is far better in the mini series. Getting to the climax of the story felt so much more rewarding.

The pacing of this movie sucked - sorry to say.

Personally I liked that most of the jump-scares were telegraphed. I hate useless jump-scares that come out of nowhere, it's cheap and not really scary. This movie handled those scares so good because it gave a feeling of tenseness, unease and just be creeped out.

But I guess it's people that want surprise jumpscares is the reason we have millions of shit horror movies now.

The flow was perfectly fine. Literally none of it relies on your previous experience, lol. My mom had never seen the original or read the book and she loved it.

It would have been nice to have more of the story fleshed out and have the characters more developed, but they did really well with what they could, considering they are adapting an 1100 page book. It was already 2 hours and 15 minutes, so it's understandable. I'm just glad there's finally a Pennywise that's actually scary. The jump scares are acceptable and there's genuine tension throughout the movie. It's fantastic.

If I want to laugh at Pennywise I'll watch Curry. If I want to be creeped out I'll watch Skarsgard.

I've never seen the miniseries or read the book, and I understood the movie just fine. The beginning of the movie established that Pennywise isn't just a normal clown, he's a monster. So with that you can understand how he can do all this paranormal shit. Then later on the movie explains that "It" can take the form of children's fears and that immediately explains the other entities the children saw.
