They would just stand around and watch while their friend was struggling or getting their ass kicked. Just rush at the bad guy together and overwhelm him.

The vast majority of the cast would literally get wrecked if they even thought about stepping in. Like, literally, I have no idea why anyone not at least part Saiyan (or Piccolo sometimes) ever bothered showing up to anything.

On phone sorry for the typos, etc....Since you said DBZ first fight you had Goku and Piccolo team up against Raditz during the fight Krillin and Roshi decide to go help them but show up late. 2nd fight they speak about having a fair fight against the Saibaman so they go 1 by 1 they beat them and once again 1vs1 against Nappa and decide to stall for Goku, Nappa turns out stronger so you get 3 vs Nappa then they gangbang Vegeta. Vegeta kills Dodoria, etc....Ginyu force show up 2 vs 1 on Guldo, 3 vs 1 on Rekum, Goku solos Burter, it's suppose to be Goku and Vegeta vs Jeice and Guinyu, Vegeta leaves, Freeza gangbanged by 3, etc....it's never really solo or 1 by 1
