We didn't hate each other, or get in fights or anything like that. We got along quite well actually, and were together for 3.5 years.
The reason we split up is mostly because she got out of college last spring and has decided to go on a year long mission trip type thing. I still have a semester to go.
I think the original plan was just to have a long distance relationship, but eventually we talked and I found out that she was probably going to grad school for 2 years after she comes back. That, or she was going to work at this one place far away that I wouldn't be able to see her for.
Either way, I wouldn't get to see her for possibly 2 years or more.
I have a semester left of college, getting done in december. Between now, and when she gets back, I'd imagine I'd have my own job, possibly moved somewhere else in the country, etc.
There's no way I would be able to just move around to follow her wherever she went, so we agreed that it wasn't fair to me to wait for her. Especially when she said she wasn't willing to move to me either when she got back.
She also said that she wasn't even sure if she wanted to commit to living with me, meaning she wasn't sure if she wanted to get married and settle down with me.
I guess I was sort of hoping that she had a stronger connection with me, I would have maybe waited for her, but finding out that she wasn't even committed to me kind of turned me the other way. It's just not worth it.

I've mostly moved on to reddit as a means of absorbing current events. Gamefaqs is mostly kept in my bookmarks as a relic of the past. But it's nice to gather others' opinions from time to time.

That's what I was thinking too. I was actually dreading talking to her because I didn't want to potentially break up with her right before she left on her trip, and ruin it for her. But it ended up being alright because we agreed on things.

It does suck that she didn't feel that connection that you did, especially after 3.5 years... but at the same time if she hasn't in all that time it probably was never meant to be anyway. Still really sucks at the moment but you seem to realize its for the best, so that's good.

Similar thing happened to me. Sorry to hear. Maybe you'll end up in the same place some day and things work out, but it's better to move on for now.

Sounds like it's for the best. It gives you a semester to meet someone else as college is the primary meeting people arena. Also gives her the freedom to bang whoever she feels like (without being a cheater) over the course of her adventure, which was certainly something she was thinking.

Yall sound like decent friends with benefits. So breaking up wasnt a deal.
