On Leathery Wings, the pilot episode, inspired me to draw a picture of the climax with the moon in the background and Batman hanging onto the Man-Bat with the grappling hook's cable wrapped around his foot.

There's a reason why I'm bitter about Batman being bitter. I can never see the character through adult eyes. It's always from the perspective of that young boy who was inspired to draw the hero he watched in that first episode. I still stand by that. The Red Skies Batman. The Dark Knight. The bitter Bruce Wayne of the future. That will never be my Batman.

My Batman will always be the hero from those first few seasons.

You're off by about 3 years.
Regardless, I have to give the original animated series credit where it's due: This is fucking hilarous.

Great show. The literal best representation of Batman on screen. Mask of the Phantasm being the best Batman movie. Which I saw at the theater.

Mark Hamill definitely nailed Joker in mainstream popularity. Even arguably more than Caesar Romero or Jack Nicholson. And the crossovers with Superman did get me interested in reading Superman where I hadn't before.

She premiered in TAS where she was just planned to be a one-episode character. They literally just needed someone to hop out of a cake at a part for Gordon and they thought it'd be weird if Joker himself did it.

Her origin story first showed up in The Batman Adventures, but she was around for a while before that.

If any version of Darkseid can't have him say the line, "I am many things, Kal-El. But here, I am God."

Then it's a lackluster version.

The line was great already but when I rewatched their confrontation, right before they fight he says "I am many things, Kal-El. You can't even begin to imagine. But for now, I'll play the role of executioner." It makes that final line even more powerful since it is a callback to this previous line.

One of the best cartoons based on a superhero comicbook. It's because of this that villains like Mr Freeze and Poison Ivy started to be more prominent in the comics. Hell beforehand the former was really nothing more than a joke villain and wasn't really taken that seriously.

I do give the 2004 series credit for having Hugo Strange as a recurring villain. Whereas he only made just one appearance in TAS. Unless you read comics at the time, you probably ended up thinking that Strange was a villain that the writer's made up for the show and dropped afterwards.

I did really enjoy The Batman as well, I know there are plenty that don't, though. Batman Beyond was great, too. I remember initially being against watched The Batman because of how anime it looked but it ended up being pretty awesome. I also remembered hating Beyond and refusing to watch it because "that's not Batman!" but, of course, it ended up being great so that was on me.

You'd think with this pattern that I'd give The Brave and the Bold a chance, but I really don't generally like funny Batman.

^What I didn't like about The Batman was it seemed all the villains were supervillains. Even characters like Penguin were top notch hand to hand fighters. Which to me, took the individuality out of the characters, making them all kung fu fighters. I did like The Batman's Croc though.

Brave and the Bold is good, but yeah it's not in anyway as serious as TAS and The Batman. I went into it to just watch a few episodes and see what it was like. I liked some episodes a lot and some were pretty flat. I liked that Solomon Grundy was just like he was in the old comics. Not that I don't like modern Grundy too. The other plus was Batmite "hosting" the show. That added some good comedy to it. I ended up watching the whole series, but like The Batman I wouldn't have much interest in watching it again, unlike as much as I watch TAS.

I dunno, I liked that they had physical ability, particularly Joker since his fighting was fun to watch. It's not like they actually had any real chance of beating Batman, they barely landed hits on him even with their moves. They toned it down throughout the series though since fans complained about it.

It certainly wasn't a big beef, as I watched the whole series. Just something different that I noticed.

that and the way he is drawn. I'm watching some now. his body is more muscular than joker tends to be, almost to an simian-like quality where even his feet can be used as an opposable hand. then his attitude seems to be much more menacing, even though his antics are the nearly the same, the way his face is drawn you don't get the same impression of mirth and gaiety amidst the thirst for death and destruction. just my 2c
