So, I just finished the movie and it was OK. I didn't really believe that Light was a genius or smart, or that L was that smart either. The other problem I had with it, is that with it being a movie. They rushed through a lot of parts and we didn't really get to see how a lot of those deaths occurred.

Also, apparently you can't write Ryuuk's name in the book. He hinted that people have tried and they usually end up dead or something.

I wouldn't call it ass. But it just felt off, and I haven't read the manga or watched the Anime. I thought it was odd how it was loaded with 80's soft rock and felt less like a thriller. And more like a 80's teen romance/drama.

Light showed his intelligence at the end of the movie, so I liked that part

and in the anime/manga, death gods can't be killed by the Death Note, and I didn't like how they implied that Ryuk could be killed by it, even if it was unlikely anyone could write his name fast enough

This is the part that legitimately bothered me the most. You should watch the anime, the music alone makes it better.

So, he would likely insta-kill them before they could finish his name? Or they constantly misspell it to the point of it becoming inert.

Well, he was threatening Light, so the implication is that he murders them.

Also, I kept thinking about this movie would have been has a mini-series or a regular Netflix series.

Oh and I don't think the porn parody would work out too well.
