I haven't had internet in like 5 years and the last time I had it it had to come out of the wall and into this little black rectangle thing that had lights and that plugged into the computer.

Also why aren't desktops wifi enabled? If laptops are I don't see why a desktop couldn't be lol or are they now?

That's a modem, which needs to be plugged into the wall for power. What TC is talking about is the cord that comes from that box to your computer, which you don't need because of wireless Internet. It's great if you have great Internet, but if you don't, you're far better off getting the cord

So it still has to come out of the big white cord that screws into the wall. Who gives a shit if the rectangle connects to the computer or not...

A large number of people in the US have little or no choice at all on who provides their internet access. The country suffers from a severe lack of competition in the broadband business. Nearly one-third of households in the United States have either no choice for home broadband Internet service, or no options at all.

Think about it from an American point of view. We will only improve things if it leads to better profit immediately. If it leads to a better life but no profit, not doing it. If it leads to better profit a generation from now, not doing it.

In my country the competition is so great that, I started out paying for 25/25. Then my provider upgrated me to 50/50 free of charge. Then again upgrated me to 80/80 still free of charge.
Supply and demand works in my country. lol

This lack of competition is literally caused by the US government.
