99/100 times the book will always be better than the movie or show based on it. I don't think I can come up with a movie/show that was better than the book.

Was The Godfather book any good because that was a damn good movie.

I keep thinking maybe it will be a satisfying conclusion to the books that aren't getting one but instead it's just more disappointing than no ending at all

I don't really count comic books as books, but fair enough.

You can make a good case for Hunger Games, too.

Eh, I would disagree. I don't really remember a whole lot about either of them, though, and I read/watched them both.

Never read them, so I'll just take your word on it. I'm not saying they're not there, but I don't know of any, or at the very least, very little.

Never got this.

"They didn't make Tyrion's motivation exactly the same so it's bad."

They barely ever established Tysha in the show as a running plot point and without the benefit of a novel format where introspection is easy to depict it'd be very hard to adapt that at all. Nothing about the writing there was bad. Season 5 is where the writing became way more wobbly.

They did include the Tysha story and all they had to do was put it in the recap or have Jaime mention it or both. Instead they didn't but they kept whore as the trigger word which was just dumb to me.

The recap isn't a part of the story.

The entire reason for that moment to carry impact is that it's something that's a running idea in the novels whereas it was a one-off scene from the first season of the show. Good scene? Absolutely, but it wasn't translated as a running theme as to why Tyrion hated Tywin. It would've come off as clunky and abrupt if they adapted it that way. It would have been bad writing because the mediums aren't the same.

The line makes perfect sense considering the context of Tyrion's relationship with Shae anyways.

like, where the arya & dorne shit was just terrible because they didn't know what to do, tyrion's motivation being different is just a mundane difference in medium adaptation because she was mentioned way less in the show

I know it's a small difference but it's one of my favorite scenes of the series and I don't feel it needed to be changed.

Also it fundamentally changed Jaime and Tyrion's relationship, or should have, so... There's that.

I mean, didn't we get some inane conversation about a mentally disabled cousin crushing beetles instead?
