I'm watching videos of the dude on Youtube and he just seems like a great guy, always helping charities, speaking well of others, and just generally being a jam up guy. Yeah he was weird and awkward at times and definitely had some issues, which can be attributed to his lack of a childhood. But do you think he honestly did those heinous crimes of molesting children? Or was it all just a smear campaign?

I really want to believe he didn't do that stuff, but you never know. Often the greatest people have the most heinous past.

I recall seeing some relatively recent articles related to his trials where they finally went public with some of the evidence they found at his ranch after his passing. (Or before - I don't remember)

According to that, he wasn't as bad as the major articles said he was - he was worse.

After he died they found pornography in his treasure room, that room he would bring kids into.

The whole situation disgusts me. For roughly 15 years, it was taken for granted that he was guilty. Then he died and what had previously been an understood truth suddenly became a malicious allegation meant to destroy a good man's career.

Either we condemned an innocent man while he was alive or we posthumously made a hero of a monster. Either way, it stinks.

A great deal of evidence points to he was innocent.

He did some weird things but he never diddled any kids.

A lot of shit that's come out since then such as the porn collection with kids heads photoshopped over adults bodies was literally made up by tabloids that were so slimy they make Daily Mail look like saints.

I think he may have inappropriately close to them, but actually molesting? I'm leaning no. Dude probably had some legit damage from that head catching fire incident, got his brain literally cooked a little bit. I think he related to children and had an affinity to them, which at times put up red flags. I believe he did things that were ill-advised, things that were likely illegal (giving alcohol to minors etc.) but I don't believe he did anything sexual.

Why do you think he drew the line before anything sexual though?

There's more reason to think otherwise tbh. Making great music doesn't mean you can't be a horrible awful Shitty person.

I don't think there was a need to draw a line. I don't think his interest was sexual in nature to begin with.

I had posted the report before on here. It used to be hosted by santa barbara itself on it's own government website. It did show that he looked at nude children regularly but did not show that he ever had sex with them.

not to say that he was the most sane individual, hanging your kid off a balcony and all that isn't normal behavior. but if he did, there'd be actual evidence somewhere instead of a rumor being propagated through word of mouth this entire time.

remember, this is a guy that was under constant watch when he was at his prime. they based the truman show off of his life because he was unable to escape the eyes of the media. something would've surfaced by now if it were true.
