Thing is both these companies have about 100-150 dollars worth of tech in the phones yet they charge 700+ for the phones

When it comes to phones, I have these requirements:
Removable battery Headphone Jack Expandable storage Those are the only three things which really matter to me and, with the latest models, iPhones have exactly none of them. Processor power, screen quality, camera quality - those things don't matter to me. Nor does any other advantage iPhones might have over my Android phone of choice. Not to mention iOS is annoying to me. Let's also not forget price. Along with having none of the things I want and everything I don't care about, iPhones are obscenely overpriced. My current phone is a Moto G4 Play. It ticks all three of the boxes I have. The screen looks good at its size. With my usage habits, the processor and RAM have never been an issue - I barely see any lag on it at all. Plus, unlocking the bootloader and throwing a custom ROM on it was a piece of cake because the dev community for it is still pretty damn strong. It cost me $130. So yeah.
