You cant even talk to random players unless you add them? How fucking dumb is that? Voice chat is somewhat understandable, but you cant even use text chat to the people on your fucking team. You'd have to spam friend invites to strangers if you dont have a bunch of RL Destiny players that you know.

After playing the beta I was considering buying the game on PC, until I realized I can't even say GG to my own fucking team mates. Is Bungie really so cheap that they'd make random chat non-existent so they wouldn't have to moderate their own fucking game?

The worst part is, I tested out an area called "The Farm", which was described as the game's social hangout. But you can't fucking talk to anyone! All you can do is run around silently and use your emotes. How embarassing is that? Games that are decades old have had social chat rooms, so Destiny 2 has no excuse.

Fanboys will buy that shit up along with all the DLCs like good little kids, too.

They would have had to be on your friends list already then. If they were all randoms, you wouldnt be able to chat.

Nope, I was in a strike with a friend and a random player, we were able to communicate with him just fine. There's a voice channel you have to opt into in order to voice chat which is probably what you weren't doing.

Then why are people saying that communication of any kind isn't possible unless you manually add each player to friends or a fire squad? This fits my experience playing the PC beta. The game even defaults to voice activated voice chat instead of push to talk, so I would have had heard SOMETHING from at least one person I played with, even if its just someone clearing their throat or whatever. And in all the time I spent at the farm, the only thing people did was run around kicking the ball and using emotes.

If you need to opt into voice chat and you have no idea it exists, why would you hear anything?

There is no secret "opt in chat". The only way you can chat with other players in this game is if they're added to your friends list or fire squad. If they're in neither of these, you will not be able to talk to them.
