A 6-foot Burmese Python was captured in Miami after a pedestrian spotted the terrifying creature slithering around...

Store Owner Indika Wanigarathne said "I figured, well, come on, how big can it be? When i saw how huge it was i freaked out. So did eveerybody else"

Miami Beach Police arrived by the MALE POLICE OFFICERS were too terrified to go near it and were about to SHOOT it..

But female officer, Traci Sierra was not afraid and captured the snake with ease as one of the male officers had to get a bag to hold it out for her..

Police Chief, Daniel J Oates says "She was a genius. She didn't panic. She put on gloves and picked up the python with her hands and put it in a little cooler. The guys gatherd around were screaming but she was calm"

The python was an escaped pet and will be turned over to a wildlife refuge

Pythons have replaced alligators as the Everglades top predator as they invade marsh and decimate native wildlife

The state had to hire snake trackers from the Irula tribe in India to track them down..and they found 33 snakes last month
