Mike Tyson was also known to duck down really low sometimes as a means of avoiding punches. Nothing wrong with that, and none of his opponents tried to hammerfist him. McGregor wasn't "drawn into" hammerfisting. He did that of his own accord multiple times.

A proper counter to an opponent ducking his head down is the uppercut. It isn't Mayweather's fault if McGregor doesn't know that.

McGregor didn't lose because of hammerfisting, he lost because Mayweather would duck or turn his back to escape from any disadvantageous position he found himself in.

No, McGregor lost because Mayweather is a much better boxer and is in much better boxing shape. McGregor lost because he was getting tired in the early middle of the fight and stopped defending himself. Mayweather's gameplan was to let McGregor tire himself out and then attack once McGregor was gassed.

Holy crap, the excuses people come up with.

And again, there's nothing wrong with ducking your head down to avoid a punch. An uppercut counters this.

Yes, and he tired McGregor out by drawing him onto the offensive, then ducking to break the momentum.

No, no problem.

He's just a scummy ass mother fucker like some dickbag in an online game that hides in a bush until everyone is dead except one other person then kills you with a sniper rifle.

Mayweather has been utilizing the same effective strategy for years. McGregor knew this going into the fight and still managed to lose. Your analogy is akin to playing Street Fighter against an opponent who advertises months ahead of time that he's going to pick Ryu and do nothing but hadoukens over and over again. So you train in anticipation of that strategy, tailor your entire game plan around closing in the Ryu that does nothing but spam hadoukens, and when game time comes you get your ass kicked by an opponent that picked Ryu and did nothing but spammed hadoukens.

That's a terrible analogy. It's McGregor's fault that his conditioning was shitty. It's McGregor's fault that he can't actually box anywhere near Mayweather's level. It's McGregor's fault that he tired himself out.

Turning your back is frowned upon in boxing and the ref told Mayweather to stop doing that. Just like hammerfisting is illegal and the ref told McGregor to stop doing that multiple times.

Yes, but even if a guy who spammed hadoukens won, would you call him a great street fighter player?

If he beats every pro-level Street Fighter player he goes up against just by spamming a single move, then yeah, I'd say he's f***ing great Street Fighter player. That means he molded that single strategy on the fly every time he fought against a different player and did it so well that he came out on top every time.

That's the thing. Mayweather has gone into most of his fights with the same defensive style and figures out how to use it to his advantage against everyone he fought against, regardless of his opponent's style.

There was a while where he was getting trained by his uncle instead of his father. He took a lot more punches during those fights, but still came out on top. Then his father started training him to use that defensive style again and he's absolutely hard to hit.

Like he did against McGregor, Mayweather goes into fights with a defensive gameplan. He figures things out in the first few rounds, then completely controls the fight.

So yeah, Mayweather is a great boxer.

I called it when he won the first round that he's going to tire himself out. Though I'll admit I didn't expect him to last that long.
