If I'm a **** poster, people must be really interested in my **** posting--which sort of defeats the meaning of a **** poster. And, sure, I guess it was all in good fun. I won't begrudge you for it. As far as other topics I make or participate in, I often post random polls about various topics---finance, gambling, travel, sleeping habits---whatever-- And I most recently participated quite heavily in Gavi's giveaway topic. --- "I think that man will be president right about the time when spaceships come down filled with dinosaurs in red capes" - Tom Hanks ... See, this is the mindset that leads to political ghettoization like we're seeing with Twitter and Google. When I sit down face to face with someone, conversation is more natural. Terms are more easily defined. The feedback is immediate. There is a social expectation of some politeness or at least constitution. Not always, but you get my point. 99% of conversation here always is someone misrepresenting someone's point. It's more semantics than actual debate as a hundred post topic has 3 posts of coherent thought, and 97 posts of two idiots taking things out of context. Also, the level of generalization that occurs in a message board format is too much to handle. A lot of these topics require a massive understanding of so many underlying assumptions. Inevitably, someone in the "audience" isn't familiar with these assumptions and then the conversation gets sidetracked. Nevertheless, it is frustrating to see both sides of the political spectrum accuse the other side of the same shit they do. It leads me to get frustrated with those "on my side" whilst rolling my eyes at "the other side" who brings up those stupid examples as if they pertained to the actual issue at hand. Is it really debating on CE though? I only see "lmao look at this s***poster" from everyone. You just called me a **** poster... >_> The discussions can get pretty toxic and heated, but I do feel my specific positions or some specific beliefs I hold can get challenged and make me thinking further into it or re-evaluate why I hold certain beliefs. A lot of people have a lot to say, and if you participate in many political topics I would say it would be a challenge to not once think differently about an opinion you hold. --- "I think that man will be president right about the time when spaceships come down filled with dinosaurs in red capes" - Tom Hanks ... No, not all debates on here are like that. I suppose my perception of the ratio of good to bad topics hasn't been favorable in a while, in my opinion. Capn Circus posted...Mernardi posted...Is it really debating on CE though? I only see "lmao look at this s***poster" from everyone. A lot of things can seem that way because it was such polar opposites "TRUMP and CLINTON". Me personally, I don't affiliate with Republicans and do not approve of many things they participate in. My whole reasoning for voting for Trump, and maybe you or others have forgotten or just didn't see, is that I was so sick of Democrats and Republicans, and found Trump as the only viable, potential alternative---which did come true. He hijacked the republican party, demanding fairness the whole time, and won. I view Trump more of a centrist or independent. I definitely view him as someone trying to shake things up, and that's exactly what I wanted. Everyone complains every year, "Oh it's always Democrats or Republicans. They both suck." But then when Trump comes around, many people find convenient excuses fed to them by the same corporations, elite, and establishment that owns the media and all of a sudden Trump is one big bad guy and cannot be voted into office----and I just won't get into all of that. --- "I think that man will be president right about the time when spaceships come down filled with dinosaurs in red capes" - Tom Hanks ...
