One kid in high school used to call me Mario, but otherwise I never had a nickname. I think nicknames are cool though, such as The Admiral, His Airness, D-Whistle.
It's also interesting when people become primarily known by their nickname. Everyone calls him Magic Johnson rather than Earvin Johnson for example. --- ... Copied to Clipboard!

Everyone from my home town other than my family calls me Irv (errv). It is shortening with slight change to my last name. My best friend growing up had the same name as me so we went by our last names and then by freshman year one of the Sr.s on the football team started calling me Irv and it caught on.
