Those are the earlier games, but no, they have no real connection to the Trails games currently released in North America. They're their own trilogy, though. I don't know if they're worth playing.

Alucard got this one covered. To be a touch more in detail those are referred to as the Gagharv trilogy and came out in the mid 90s. The current head of Falcom actually made a fan site for one of them and it's what caught their eye enough to initially offered him a position at the company.

I actually wasn't aware that they were made into PSP games and released in North America. Perhaps I should look at gathering them up.

They aren't exactly the best quality translation and for some reason they changed the release order so I think it goes 2,1,3.
