That isn't the Chase Sapphire Preferred card?

I have several CC's(Discover IT, Capital one Quick Silver) and want a new CC that's more travel oriented. Air fare, gas, hotels, etc

Although I heard the Chase card is great for this, I keep getting denied by them. So for now, they are out of the picture.

What's your credit score?

And there's always room for an AMEX. It just feels good to have one.

Yeah, travel cards tend to be higher up on the food chain and typically require excellent/good credit.

They also typically start with higher credit limits, so ideally they'd want to see if you have experience with $5,000+ credit lines before approving you.

Very possible but neither of the cards he listed require particularly good credit so it may be his score too.

Except it is. The CSP in question is a Visa Signature and starts you at $5,000 at the minimum. Chase isn't typically going to extend that line of credit to you if you don't have some history. I should know since I have one.

If TC is getting denied for the CSP, it's either because he doesn't have the requisite history or he's over 5/24.

If you have any big purchases lined up, Chase Sapphire preferred has a 1st time user bonus that equals $625 as long as you put it towards travel (otherwise it's like $400).

You need to spend $4k in 3 months though, so it's only worth it if I you know you have those expenses lined up.

The CSP is not all travel cards.

For the travel cards that compete with CSP (Amex PRG, etc), it certainly is. I wouldn't consider any of these cards as starters, hence you would need some sort of history to improve your chances to acquire them.

TC mentioned he has Discover IT, Capital One QS, etc. - I'd like to know what his limits are and how long he's had them.
