I have been hearing people talk about having a tough time finding one, but I noticed them in target yesterday.

Was this another Nintendo "shortage" to pressure more people into buying it at release?

It's regional. Some places it's harder to find than others.

I work at a mom and pop game store, and we can order in about 5 a week now.

Nintendo has actually kinda met with expectations in terms of production. My hope is the same will happen with the SNES Classic.

It was revealed as a shareholders meeting that they have way more than enough money in cash to jack up production to meet the demand directly. To me it seems like they're penny pinching until Odyssey and Xenoblade 2 and the likes releases

That doesn't sound correct. There's an ongoing NAND flash storage shortage and Nintendo has to compete with Apple and the other smartphone companies for the components for their products. There's no way Nintendo has the money to bump themselves ahead of Apple on the priority list.

Granted, I don't think you can walk into any store and pick one up at any time of day yet, they have been getting easier to obtain as long as you use reddit and Nowinstock. They'll keep you up to date on if it's in stock online or if some people spotted some in your area

It seems a lot easier to find for some local stock. However, good luck finding one online at a normal price with no BS bundle. Now may be the best time to buy one for the year if its a popular Christmas item.

I find they get stocked in spurts. They'll get a sizeable shipment in before the weekend, get sold out within a couple of days, and then continue to remain out of stock for a couple of weeks. You simply encountered the Switches in your store during the brief availability window.

Sony is done with handhelds there is literally no chance that they can compete with the Switch.

You never know. Nintendo bombed with the Wii U and still came back. If they sell it as a companion to the PS4 they could probably sell decently.

It greatly depends where you live. If you live in the city like I do, good luck trying to find one in the shelf unless you're really lucky.

Funny enough, my friend (douche) went into a Ma and Pa gameshop and bought 4 switches (I'm pretty sure in Walmart and Target you're only allowed to buy 1), only to try to sell them online like a fucking scalper he is.

It's discouraging, but I just like their handhelds for classics. It would be cool if they waited a few years and made something big and strong... and affordable.

Seeing as the NES and SNES are artificially scarcity in action, it's likely Nintendo is doing the same with the Switch in fear of a Wii U repeat.

make another that's better integrated to the system and without a botched launch like the one that ruined the Vita that Sony never recovered from.

Imagine if the new PS-portable whatever was Sony's answer to the S/NES Classic AND it could stream PS4 games.

It could come built in with like 30 PS1, PS2, and PSP games (10 each), it would be connected to the same PSN as the PS3 so you could go further and purchase even more classic games if you wanted more beyond those 30, and it has the streaming capabilities of the Vita but stronger, so you can take it as a portable PS4 player.

It would probably cost closer to $200, but it sounds worth it to me. Hell, maybe even bump it up to 50 games total to make the cost more easier to digest.

Actually, they do lol. They can easily compete, and it's not like you spend your entire cash on hand just to somehow bump yourself on a priority list. It just depends on how much more they're willing to pay, and that's just not high atm
