He did win a few before the derby, but they were against smaller races. ((And I don't like the derby as a test, because the field is too large.)) He got out on the lead early in sloppy conditions in a race with like 20+ horse. That was his edge. All you have to notice is how clean he is coming across the line. Oh and ya, Sloppy conditions favor upsets very often. Everyone else is caked in mud, that's what happened there. There are so many horses in the derby it is crazy. Do they even have any sort of qualifying to make it into the race? I borderline hate that race. I certainly hate the hype around it. They must have some qualifications but not much. And I can tell you Church Hill Downs is a shit company with low standers. Either way, I don't call that a race, I call that a cavalry charge.
