What was the experience like? Any interesting stories? Ever got robbed? Maybe even been offered some "favors" for payment?

Also, do you recommend the job?

Every now and then, you will see a delivery order that says "send a hot guy" or something. In my experience, though

I appreciate the responses. Next week I start training so I just wanted to see if CE had some experience in this occupation. The area that I'm working at is pretty nice in general. I'm expecting tips to be decent at the very least.

Good friend of mine was robbed at gunpoint by a few thugs delivering pizza. Beat his ass pretty good. One guy put a gun to his chest while he was on the ground. Pulled the trigger but the gun jammed. He quit that day.

Best of luck!

I did in my early 20s, good times. I delivered in mostly wealthy suburbs so tips were decent and we didn't worry about crime. The only downfall was everyone is expected to work big events like the Superbowl or such, which sucked.

Only did it for 3 months, nothing out of the ordinary. Though one time I did walk up to the door to ring the doorbell and I heard a girl and guy yelling at each other super loud. As soon as he opened the door, his face was red, but he was talking to me real nice and tipped me 20 dollars (more than how much the pizza costed). As soon as he closed the door he yelled,"You ain't getting any pizza from me bitch, it's all mines!"
I never laughed so hard.

A question I always had was how do they organize things?

Does the delivery guy hang out until there are 5-10 deliveries ready to go and leave with them all in bulk, or does he just constantly come in and grab whatever is there even if it's just one order?

I did, it was one of my first jobs, and the only job I was fired from. Gratuity was never included in the delivery, and this woman who was barely on the border of the delivery area ordered frequently and left under a dollar tip every time. Once I literally got $0.39 tip from her. When her ticket came up and there were multiple drivers, a lot passed her over and took the next in line knowing they would get shafted.

One night finally I decided to pick it up and take it to her after her order sat for nearly a half hour and she went off when I delivered it that it took an hour to get to her, and I told her pick up was an option and that the delivery drivers generally aren't very motivated to get a fifty cent tip for an 8 mile drive.

Her orders were normally $30+ also, it's not like it was one meal for one person.

She called my boss and told him what I said and I got canned. I was young and shouldn't have spouted off, I think I was 16, but still it was ridiculous.

It's a good high school or college job, you can make good money.

Just be prepared for being busy as hell on the 1st of the month and not get any tips.

On slower nights there will be less drivers. On a busy night if there's standing around during a slow spot drivers would answer the phone or fold boxes. But it's mostly grab and go, on busy nights orders will be grouped together by proximity and a driver will take 2 or 3 orders at once.
