I'll never understand the appeal.

Well I should rephrase, it was interesting at points in the Modern Warfare series where things in the campaign were almost like a Tom Clancy novel, but I can't understand how the gameplay itself and the multiplayer would be fun.

It's really boring gameplay too. They lead you down a narrow path. You shoot. One of you dies. Wash rinse repeat. I hate Call of Duty in particular because it changed the direction of the Battlefield series to be nearly exactly like it. Gone were the big open maps and the strategy aspect, and back to narrow corridors.

Also it just looks ugly and depressing.

In my opinion, unless if it's a sports game, you shouldn't release a franchise game like Call of Duty every year. Biennial is okay, but annually is just excessive.
