I don't see Sony starting a new gen of consoles just because MS released a better mid gen xbox one

I kinda see both of them taking a 3 year gap and both will begin a new gen in 2020, their won't be

one up status anymore, they are both coming out the same time.

or they'll both move to a shorter cycle where they try to sell you a slight upgrade over the previous model every 2 years

differences between hardware generations will only get smaller as time goes on
