I love The Thing. The original is one of my favorite films. I enjoyed the reboot too, probably in part because I'm such a big fan of the original. I'd love it if they made another one.

all I'm saying is they're working on another alien movie, another predator movie, and then there's the thing with one of the best horror premises of all time and they're not doing anything with it. id love if they did something like aliens and take it in another direction treewojima posted... because the average moviegoer doesn't give a shit about psychological horror or real effects psychological horror is singlehandedly saving the genre these days --- I'm always thinking one step ahead, like a carpenter that makes stairs. ... They baited everyone...they said they were using old school, real life effects....makeup, blood packs/boxes....
They wanted to stay faithful to the John Carpenter version... Somewhere along the way, they decided against it and went with CGI effects... a real turn off for most of the die hard fans.... --- "There are no men like me. There's only me."-Jamie Lannister ... Copied to Clipboard!

apparently they did use animatronics and only CGI'd the stuff that looked too fake, which must've been everything cause it all looked like CGI

just saw the original original thing (1951) and it's crazy how much scarier carpenter's version is because of the whole assimilation aspect and not knowing who was human
