I can't stress this enough.

Just. Stop. Playing. The. Game.

They don't care about you, the people who are not buying Shark Cards. They only care about the whales at this point.

The game isn't even fun anymore. It's just the same go from point A to point B shit that it's been for a year now. (well, that an stupid ass Adversary Modes that nobody plays after the first week)

It is for the guys who treat it as Forza with guns. That's how their luring people in.

"Hey guys, we have cars like the Jag C-X75! Not even Forza or GranTurismo have that!"

Pretty much the main reason they're still selling Shark cards.

Rockstar has literally nerfed a multi million dollar car only to release a new multi million dollar car with the old cars stats.

The racing isn't even that good because of all the bullshit settings and toxic community.

Like, I played GTA Online since the start. I finally stopped with Gunrunning and I feel stupid for not stopping sooner. I honestly don't understand why people still play it. It's not even a "wow, this games microtransactions are a rip off" anymore, it's just...not fun. The Adversary Modes are goofy and sometimes broken, free roam is a complete cluster fuck, the sales missions are the same shit over and over, and the list goes on.

Like, GTA Online *can* be fun if you have some dedicated people to play it, but otherwise I don't understand it at all.

it says they're going to fix the port block exploit which forces a solo session. that better be all they do. I've spent like $300 on shark cards over the years but I still like to run solo lobbies so I can just chill and do the grind to accumulate more. if they disable solo sales then i'm f***ing done. I mean I'm commissioner of a 200+ crew so I can just invite a few peaceful members and grind solo anyway, but the blatant greed and fun-killing going on here on R*'s behalf is mad.

damn. how have you avoided the banwaves? R* compares amount spent to amount earned and if you're shark card purchases don't cover the discrepancy you get banned. Last banwave a lot of legit players got f***ed due to this system (including me). I get paranoid even when an idiot does a minor 20k drop.

That's been my luck for the most part until just today. So for the last couple days I've been selling off my warehouse and import/export cars. I'd have sold more cars if not for that god damn cooldown time. So today I go to sell off the last of my warehouse shit, about 288k if I remember correctly. This ass in that new Night Shark started chasing me but I made it just in time. He continued to fire on me so I took him out and went on my business and finally bought the bunker.

Before I went to it I sourced another car because why not? He again came after me but I once again made it but the car was trashed. I go to the bunker and went to do the first mission and there he was again, in his fucking Nightshark. FYI, the GT1 can take a hell of a beating, this dude chased me from Chumash all the way to the southeast docks and half way back to where the pickup was. My GT1(McLaren F1) took shots up the ass damn near the whole time and didn't blow.

Anyways, dude wouldn't let up the whole fucking time. Me, I just let people do their thing or better yet, give them a hand if they ask for an easy 10k. But every so often I run into these kiddies of assholes who's soul reason for being there is to fuck up your day.

Again, GT1 can take a beating. I don't buy Shark Cards, never will. I just wish people would let me earn a dirty living.... FUCKERS!!!

I always thought the policy (at least on PC) was that if you're given money, at worse Rockstar takes that amount out of your account. As in, even if you spend the money they don't get rid of anything you already bought with it.

And that's only happened to me once, on the same day the Gunrunning DLC dropped. However I bought all the new vehicles and fast-tracked 10 research projects before they got me since the week leading up to the DLC I was dropped ~80 million. And then the following week I was able to fast track everything else because of more modders in public lobbies

If they banned anybody who received money in public lobbies on PC there probably wouldn't be any GTA:O players on PC given the amount of money-dropping modders...who have somehow outnumbered the griefing modders in my experience. Sometimes you have to actively go to them to get the money bags, a lot of times they give you money directly like earlier this week some modder sitting in an office for an hour directly gave players $250k every 10 minutes through some interface I've never used before (there was an on-screen notification for receiving $50k every time it happened)

Not to defend this scummy company but aren't all they doing is patching exploits players found to do this? Sounds like that's not an intended way of playing since they stopped it once already, so I don't get why players are up in arms. They should have known it was coming.

I was prepared to buy a PS4 or Xbone so I can play it but not anymore. You're probably mostly right though, people will eat it up at launch, but they're going to end up disappointed en mass when Take Two bends them over even worse than GTO for online. It's going to be a massively glorified cell phone game at this point.

I really don't get it because the entire appeal of Forza is the fact that it's got real cars with real tuning options that you can fully customize. GTA Online has never had any of these things.

Well it's more than that.

The fact that shark cards exist means that Rockstar will (and does) implement gameplay mechanics that pressure players into buying them, rather than shark cards being something completely outside the gameplay design that are simply a bonus. It's a much more lucrative business model that way. Money wills it to exist.

For example, Research projects in the Gunrunning update. You can't select which project you want since it's randomized, and have to finish the current project to move on to the next. You can either wait for your staff to complete the project, or pay to fast-track it. In normal gameplay design, you would be allowed to select the project, but randomizing it adds a gambling mechanic which is proven to sell microtransactions because you're chasing the carrot on the stick.

They also do this thing every update where they drip-feed content -- another proven microtransaction seller in many games. They release an expensive supercar for you to blow all your in-game money on, and a couple weeks later they release an even better, more expensive car completely unannounced.

Because it's been common knowledge in the community for a while now that there isn't that much of a difference between the goals of Rockstar and Take Two. Broughy has talked about this every time he's met up with the Rockstar Community Team I'm pretty sure.

Also, contrary to popular belief, most developers are not against microtransactions and will often defend them when asked.

Of course they aren't, just look at games like Candy Crush. It "free" but some how(micro transactions) it's a billion dollar game. One that really pisses me off is Plants vs. Zombies 2, the first one was great. 2 is filled with micro transactions and it pisses me off that you can't unlock useful plants from the first one, you gotta buy them. It's when you either lag everyone out of a public session or block them through ports in your firewall.

You're in a public session, which allows you to do the sale missions, but you're alone so nobody fucks your shit up with ridiculous fighter jets and flying motorcycles that shoot rockets.

I had a lot of fun with online the first couple of weeks. Boosting cars, knocking over convenience stores, the occasional mugging. Scraping together every dollar to get yourself that first piece of shit apartment.

Then a bunch of losers manipulated a glitch, got the company all defensive and to even things out dropped a quarter million on every player.

What the fuck. They shattered my immersion. How would my character get that. Whatever. Wasn't interested.

But I don't care. It's not for me. No worries. Let them cater to the people who want to buy their product.

Last June they released an update that allowed you to own your own "Business", where you buy illegal goods, collect them, then once you pile up enough sell them for a profit. All of this can only be done in free roam, and everyone is encouraged to fuck up your sales. If they destroy your product, that's it, you lost your product and whatever money you put into it (this can take hours of grinding and be worth multiple millions of dollars). They get like 5000 dollars for their trouble.

Every major update since has been a variation of this system. The game is completely focused on PvP gameplay that requires you to spend money to earn money to then spend money on overpriced cars and weapons. And the game is completely unbalanced in the fact that most sales you do require you to drive a big, bulky vehicle from one end of the map to the other while everyone else gets to use whatever they want to destroy your product. Everything from sticky bombs to fighter jets.

Now you can be a CEO which has its perks. You can sell guns, drugs, stolen cars/various goods. You have to steal them and store them in warehouse/bunkers. You have to buy an office which will run you over a million, warehouse that cost hundreds of thousands and so on. You have to be in a public lobby to sell your stuff. This is where it becomes annoying. People will pursue you relentlessly to fuck up your sales for a small amount of cash and RP. Sometimes you'll end up in a lobby where no one cares. Other times it's filed with asshats you are just out to ruin your day.

The concept itself wouldn't be bad if there was any kind of balance to it, but by the time they decided to release this system they had already released fighter jets and other ridiculous shit into the community.

It's only gotten worse since then. The latest update literally adds a flying motorcycle that shoots homing rockets.
