yes they had citizens kill the buffalo to near extinction because the native americans survived off them and then they killed native americans for not turning themselves in to the reservations. Jefferson did make slave children make nails.

We can make it look like they were all bleeding badly from a face lift so everyone who visits will just say no!

no culture who were on the receiving end of these men's bloody conquest should even be expected to feel that much respect for these men. if they do respect them, that's fine. but nobody should expect it for obvious reasons. unless you're one of those naive and oblivious "colorblind" types who think other groups should disregard their own culture so you can feel better about whatever yours is.

with that said, a line should be drawn somewhere. I just haven't decided where for me personally, yet.

I wonder when this is supposed to be done...?

That doesn't remove the entire mountain and besides why go to all that extra work? The statues don't take up the entire mountain just part of it

Zikten having a semi-meltdown over semantics again.

"He said tear down a mountain (even though he was OBVIOUSLY referring to the monument on the mountain, not the mountain itself, but that would be intepretation instead of literalism AND WE CAN'T VERY WELL HAVE THAT, CAN WE!?!?!), and you can't literally do that, so I must make everyone continuously aware of that fact!"

Even though I'm pretty sure with enough effort and cash you actually could.

Effrafax of Wug was a sciento-magician who bet his life that he could make an entire mountain invisible within a year. Having wasted most of the period of time failing to create a cloaking device, he hired a company to simply remove the mountain, though this course of action lost him the bet and his life. This was all due in part to the sudden and rather suspicious presence of an extra moon, and in addition, the fact that you could never touch anything when you walked near the supposed invisible mountain.

http://wgno.com/2017/05/08/monumental-task-committee-says-city-doesnt-own-beauregard-statue/
“City Park, as an incorporated association of the Lieutenant Governor’s Office, owns the land that the monument is on, and owns the monument,” Marksbury said.

So, while technically "private" property, Beauregard's plot of dirt was still owned by a public entity.

I don't have any issues taking the statues down. What I have an issue with is these people that do break them down thinking they shouldn't get into trouble with the law when they clearly broke the law by destroying property.

they broke the law, and it was wrong. but if this is really your biggest gripe about the entire chain of events that led up to it, then...

Funny, I didn't say anything like that at all. All I said is I don't want to hear people cry when they get arrested and charged with a crime they committed. Just like I don't want to hear some white guy cry because they got charged with a crime they committed during all this crazy shit.

Don't ever put words in my mouth again, please.

you chose that moment to go ahead and throw that in. I'm pretty sure nobody even disagrees with something that should go without saying. just another "two wrongs don't make a right" type of response, lol.

you can be defensive. I just thought it was funny.
