Hurt on the job as a way to avoid paying them any kinds of workers comp.

Regardless of your opinion on immigration can we agree that's just scummy and they should be directly responsible for their recovery out of pocket

i get that and agree in that sense but hiring employees for that advantage is despicable

I don't know how that works with legal citizen status, but if you're self insured and you have people working for you and they get hurt on your job, you should pay no matter what then handle that other stuff separate.

and if they are trying to circumvent compensation laws they should be fined anyway.

Apparently the answer is no, but yes it is scummy. Not only do they not want to pay the American worker an equitable wage, but they don't even want to pay for benefits to the workers who injured themselves while making a profit for them. Yes, I understand why the latter is not done in the case of illegals, but it's part of a bigger issue of the labor market price gouging the worker.

TBH I'm against deporting undocumented people, but I think if you're here illegally you kinda know you're not entitled to benefits and probably not getting them

that being said, it's scummy that they're being deported at all because of these employers

That's not scummy at all.

This will encourage people who are her illegally to get the proper legal documents, so they can get the compensation they deserve--just like EVERY OTHER legal US citizen.

Considering nobody will draw a line anywhere at all when it comes to illegals--outside of them committing serious crimes and being deported when found out--it's good to see some people are doing something to encourage proper action when it comes to living and working here.

fair, next..when you are trying to undercut and undermine people who do everything legally, those are the kind of risks you run when work under the table illegally. There are no rights to give up, because as illegal workers they have none.

So the employer and the employee both break the law and the employer can get out of whatever they owe the employee by snitching that they both broke the law and that's fair ?

We're not dicussing legality here cause it's clearly legal

We're discussing morality

This pretty much. People get mad that "illegals steal jobs" like they're all self employed. Many get hired to do shit work for less. They're cheap and loyal out of fear of the boss snitching on them.

Meanwhile you have legal citizens try for the same job but demand appropriate pay and benefits. "Why pay Joe $20 an hour and benefits when Juan will do it for $10 and if he gets hurt then he keeps it to himself?"

And the thing is there will never be a fine or anything to circumvent this. It benefits illegals, and employers, to not report injuries.

It is an interesting argument to increase the hell out of penalties for hiring undocumented workers. Because this does make workplaces a lot more unsafe for everyone. No incentive for a safe workplace if all the injuries go unreported.

Literally. There is no other alternative to this. Why people are okay having their tax dollars taken to pay for people who refuse to participate equally in the same system is beyond me. I don't know about some of you guys but I work hard for my money, and if I could choose where my tax dollars went specifically, it would go to those who are legal citizens that need help, not those who undermine the system with every breath they take.

These people are lucky to get a job being here illegally as it is, so they should be grateful they weren't reported when they attempted to get the job. Not crying foul when the services reserved for legal citizens is denied to them because they're not.

It's worth noting that you are entitled to workers comp in the state of Florida no matter your legal status.
Basically the employee may have been breaking the law by being here illegally, but they are not breaking the law in trying to receive their claims. All we're doing here is enabling scummy employers to break the law twice (hiring illegal workers, not paying out when someone is injured).
