Nah, it's still great, the novelty has just worn off. It's how it goes.

if you feel like the show is lower quality once the novelty wears off then the show was never great to start

I think they're focusing on the marriage aspect too much is my problem.

Early episodes of The Simpsons always dealt with the family almost breaking apart as well, and I don't care for them as much as well.

The S3E4 had nothing to do with beth and jerry's marriage. Also most b plots in previous seasons were focused on beth and jerry's marriage. This isn't anything new for the show.

In a 10 episode season mind you, and it's outworn it's welcome.

So the first 3 episodes of a season have dealt with the divorce. End of first episode having the divorce. 2nd episode focused on how each character is handling the divorce and the 3rd episode briefly brought it up in therapy.

Episode 2 is really the only episode that so far focused solely on it and we don't know what future episodes will hold.

Unfortunately I agree. Each of the four episodes so far has underwhelmed me to varying degrees, and it's difficult to pinpoint exactly why. It just feels like a general decline.

I will say that Pickle Rick was pretty enjoyable, probably at the level of a mid-tier episode in previous seasons. But it's surrounded by episodes below mid-tier, and looks worse for the company.

Rickshank and Pickle Rick were some of the best episodes I thought. Episode 2 was good enough and the new one was bottom 3

i found the first episode to be pretty great actually, but the last three were just okay and not super memorable or anything. but that has always been an issue with me, I don't find the average R&M episode super memorable.

This one was ok. I saw the adult swim promo with the writers talking about how "badass" Worldender was going to be and I was like "he's either gonna die immediately or is a total pussy"

That's the problem with subverting expectations as your gimmick, you begin to expect the subversion of the trope and aren't surprised.

That being said, I knew Rick was gonna praise Noob Noob at some point before the end. I just am left wondering why the device accepted Morty. Unless it was Noob Noob's jacket or something and I didn't catch that detail

There's 2 theories.

1. Noob noob and morty are about the same size and weight so the machine just accepted morty thinking it was noob noob.

2. drunk rick didn't actually make anything that would detect whether or not the object placed on the center was correct and the machine would work no matter what was put on it.

I finally got caught up on S3, and it's not as bad as I'd been led to believe. The season opener that aired back on April Fool's was great, and the other three have been decent enough (I wasn't overly enthused with S2 either, so it's not much of a downgrade for me).

Show's really jacking itself off with the psychoanalytical monologues, though. I hope that's a dying trend.

Probably 1. I mean he had one thing that was literally "Just shoot 5 free throws in five min." so at that point he clearly stopped giving a shit.

Yea those make sense considering the neutrino bomb.

I feel like there's a lot of detail to be missed in this episode since a lot of people are focused on the rick development

That could of just very well detected whether or not the ball went into the net and not actually check that the throw was made from the right spot.

Cuz while drunk rick is still rick, he's a lot more careless as noted with the neutrino bomb.

I just thought it was funny how Even when he's plastered out of his mind, he's still able to completely destroy somebody who's a world ending threat. They mentioned that this season is going to delve into the thoughts of just how "Functioning" Rick is when he's drunk, and how his actions will have consequences.
