Maccready identifies Childs as the Thing in the end of the film by handing him a bottle of gasoline. Maccready laughs as he realizes the futility in his efforts.

It's not confirmed at all obviously, but I enjoyed this interpretation.

The Thing is a classic. It holds up really well, compared to a lot of modern suspense and sci-fi movies. It amazes me that it was made back in 1982.

Honestly I think it's pretty overrated personally, I've seen people list it in like top 10 lists of their favorite movies and things like that, and I've also heard people saying things about it being really scary, which to me any scare factor it had didn't really hold up. I'm not saying it's bad or anything but that I heard so much praise about it for years before I actually saw it and it was just good to me, not amazing or anything.
I felt like there was a big missed opportunity for more character drama, tension, and paranoia than it actually delivered on. I feel like the premise had so much more potential for that than it actually had.
It's like a 7 or so out of 10 imo.

Best example of how practical effects trump CGI 100% of the time.

Great suspense and terror, excellent acting, sound track is perfect, and the alien is truly alien.
Legitimately one of the best horror movies ever made. Hell, one of the best movies.

Yeah, it was not bad. You couldn't stay exposed to the cold for too long and you had to basically play detective. The only thing I didn't like is that you were pretty much alone, so there was no paranoia built up from not trusting teammates like in the movie.
