It's 2 movies now so hopefully they can perfectly adapt the book. It's just one movie atm, second one is planned to be made if the first one does well. It was gonna be 2 parts from the start anyway, but they only done the first one. We don't know if we ever get the second. First one is kids. Curry's portrayal looked like an actual circus clown - which made sense because the idea was to lure children to him. And the creepiness came in because it wasn't quite right - he almost had the look, but that guttural old man voice and the tobacco-stained teeth just didn't match up to it. And made it spooky as fuck. The second any kid sees this new clown with the blatantly angry murderer face, why wouldn't they run the fuck away immediately. I think Tim Curry's portrayal is way creepier than this one, which is trying a little too hard. Curry's portrayal looked like an actual circus clown - which made sense because the idea was to lure children to him. And the creepiness came in because it wasn't quite right - he almost had the look, but that guttural old man voice and the tobacco-stained teeth just didn't match up to it. And made it spooky as fuck. The second any kid sees this new clown with the blatantly angry murderer face, why wouldn't they run the fuck away immediately. Maybe it works in the context of the movie, we'll see. I think he is just portrayed as edgy scary in the trailers to cater to the audience of today. In the novel, IT was never really luring in kids, there was always something off about IT. IT can control minds pretty much in some extent tbh, so why would IT need to really look like IT would lure kids anyway. I don't remember anything in particular that was wrong with the way Curry did it that this new guy does better, having read the book. Honestly the book was really overwritten in my opinion.
