just bought a 2017 impala and the rear view visibility is lacking so thought about adding a backup camera to help with that. looking at cameras and there's like a hundred different options. some real cheap and some pretty expensive. none of the dealers have one listed but i was gonna call a couple up and see if they could just add a factory backup camera to my car. but if they can't i know geek squad will but i need to purchase the camera myself.

bought it used. would have been an extra 6k~ for a fully loaded one that came with it. i can get it installed + buy a camera for like 200-300 it seems like.

supposedly that's starting next year. dunno if it's every model or cars just need the option or what.

i never had any of this stuff. i been driving an 02 for the past decade and all this stuff is new to me. i don't even trust most of these sensors and stuff. think too many people will just relay on them and if they malfunction it's just gonna cause a crash. i did fine driving with just my eyes. but figure a backup camera wouldn't hurt to get put in even if i end up never using it.

I'm saving up for a chevy Malibu :u I'm gonna make sure it has a backup camera though. Didn't even realize they made them without them anymore.

if you're getting it new you can get it with the option. if you're going used you can look around for one or just spend a few hundred to get it put in. the new malibus do look real nice.

Do the impalas still have the back seats blocking the back window.

yea kinda plus the huge trunk. like it's around half the visibility of my old car. it's enough but not the best design choice. only real flaw in the car but didn't really bother me while driving it. just different than what i'm used to.

I have one on my Accord, but it came with the car when we bought it.

It's nice cause my depth perception isn't the best when backing up into a spot with a car there. It's nice to be able to see exactly how close I am. Still use my mirrors and whatnot, but when I get close, I look at the camera.

In addition to the backup camera, I also like how my car's side mirrors have a tilt down feature when I put the car in reverse. That + backup camera make parallel parking a cinch.
