This article is a bit, but includes good data:
https://fivethirtyeight.com/features/democrats-are-overperforming-in-special-elections-almost-everywhere/

So far Dems have flipped Louisiana Senate District 2, New York Assembly District 9, NH House District Carroll 6(since the 538 article was written)

Along with Oklahoma Tulsa seats:
http://www.thedailybeast.com/democratic-candidates-just-pulled-off-surprise-wins-in-two-oklahoma-statehouse-races

Dem's then won State Senate in NH which hasn't been flipped since 1976 and now a majority in the state senate:
http://www.wmur.com/article/democrat-cavanaugh-pulls-upset-in-state-senate-special-election/10360495

Those are at least 6 historic republican seats that have been flipped since Trump's election

They also retained their seat in Iowa:
https://iowastartingline.com/2017/08/08/iowa-democrats-win-special-election-in-trump-22-district/

Along with that republican's on the state and national level have done no flipping. Dems have been doing very well on the state level and have been far surpassing my expectations. This is big because state level issues will directly affect national level elections from gerrymandering to getting court nominations picked.

2018 is going to need a lot of momentum and a great win. It's going to be hard, but it's definitely possible(especially for the senate). Iowa gave me a lot of hope because I really did think they'd lose that seat. We'll just have to see

Well yeah, that's what happens when you have a uniquely unqualified and unpopular president.
Let's see if they can overcome the odds in 2018, and hopefully put up a legitimately progressive candidate in 2020.

I didn't pay too much attention, but it seemed Sara was keeping that seat

Yeah, what I meant was that seat wasn't flipped was it? It was disappointing but I wasn't surprised since it was Missouri

Correct, it wasn't flipped, but the fact that it was as close as it was in a solid red area should be pretty indicative of the political climate. The Republican Party of Missouri actually spent money campaigning for Walsh as well, while Skelton relied on grassroots fundraising (ostensibly because she didn't want to take big money, but I think probably because the democratic party here didn't think it was worth it to spend money on the race).

Oh yeah for sure. It was a lot closer than I expected which gave me hope. As far as I can tell Skelton was a Berniecrat and gained momentum in a race that seemed to be decided

I'm convinced dems will take back the house next year. As for the Senate, it's going to be very hard. But I believe well probably end up breaking even. Then in 2020 dems will expand their majority in the house and retake the senate.

I've been good man. I recently presented my research and graduated with my physics degree

I'm currently doing physics work for a post bacc, and then strengthen my resume a bit for grad school. I've been studying incessantly for the physics GRE and have scored in the top 30th-20th percentile each time and feel good I can push it for when I take in October.

I'm targeting programs with a cosmology program. I'd ideally want to do experimental cosmology dealing with dark matter or energy, but I'm flexible.

But other than that I've been in a good mood. I got hired yesterday and am glad I'm doing a job that pays decently and doing something that I enjoy
